Sports

Vernham Dean Sports

If you like football, netball, cricket or golf then Vernham Dean has something to offer and the Village Hall is the venue for aerobics and fitness classes. The Bourne Valley is a great favourite with cyclists and the nearby towns of Hungerford,Newbury and Andover offer leisure centres, rugby clubs and swimming venues.

Playing Fields Association

The Vernham Dean Playing Fields Association has two functions to perform, firstly to maintain the current facilities and secondly to raise funds so that the facilities can be improved upon for all to enjoy. The committee work hard to ensure the village deliver some fabulous community events including hosting the annual Test Valley Tour cycle event, the village fete and the bonfire night.

The Multi Use Games Area is well-used, especially in the summer months. Our pavilion can be hired for events such as birthday parties, dinner parties and much more. Please contact Amanda Taylor on 01264 737640 for details.

We are always looking for people to help in a number of capacities. We welcome new committee members to help with the planning of events and upkeep of the facilities and we also require help in the lead up to and during events, be it flipping a burger, collating the village calendar, painting benches or designing the next Fete poster… there will be something you can help us with. If this is something you would like to get involved in then please contact John Hale on 07967 564491 or email johnhalelho@btinternet.com

Vernham Vixens Netball

The Vixens Netball Team was formed around 1998 as a bunch of ladies of all abilities who felt they wanted to play a sport together as a team. Since then the team soon joined the Andover District Netball Association and have been playing competitive league matches through the winter months and friendly matches in the summer ever since.

Practice is on Monday evenings at Harrow Way School in Andover and the matches are on Thursday evenings in term time.

A healthy social life is enjoyed and occasional informal meetings are held to sort out any club business.
